Ode to Peace is Light of Music’s tribute to worldwide peace and friendship. All profits of this concert will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
This concert features orchestral works by four different composers from west to east. The evening begins with Rossini’s truly classical overture to The Barber of Seville, followed by Tchaikovsky’s wonderful Swan Lake Suite and Debussy’s colourful prelude inspired by the poem L’après-midi d’un faune by Stéphane Mallarmé.
For the second half of this evening exciting young soprano Honey Rouhani and violinist Irmina Trynkos join Babak Kazemi and Light of Music Symphony Orchestra, which takes you to a new world where East and West merge together in the world premiere of Babak’s Violin Concertino and his orchestral songs based on poems from remarkable Persian poets Hafez and Rumi.
In between the songs, reciting of Persian poems accompanied by acclaimed Persian period-instruments adds fresh, vibrant colours to this unmissable concert.
